Reporting to the Manager - Security, our Security Specialists play a key role in protecting E-Comm's digital environment through proactive monitoring, risk assessment, and threat detection. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and performing detailed IT risk assessments covering information security, privacy, disaster recovery, infrastructure, emerging technologies, and secure systems development.

You'll collaborate closely with IT project teams, architects, and infrastructure specialists to assess systems and applications, providing expert guidance and recommendations that strengthen E-Comm's protection, detection, and response capabilities.

We're looking for an accomplished problem solver who thrives in an ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape—someone with deep technical knowledge of IT risk assurance methods, threat assessment practices, and standard security controls (e.g., NIST, ITSG-33).

What You'll Do:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain security tools, alerting, and monitoring systems to ensure continuous visibility and protection across all environments
  • Support and optimize Identity and Access Management (IAM) processes, including user provisioning, SSO, and federated identity
  • Manage system vulnerabilities by conducting network and system scans and coordinate remediation activities with infrastructure teams
  • Lead audits and reviews of security infrastructure (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM systems) and ensure compliance with established policies and standards
  • Monitor and analyze security events using SIEM tools (Splunk experience highly beneficial) to detect, investigate, and respond to potential incidents
  • Collaborate with Security Engineers and other internal teams to identify, assess, and address vulnerabilities across systems, networks, and applications
  • Prepare forensic reports and investigative documentation following incidents, identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures
  • Continuously research emerging threats, attack techniques, and security trends to strengthen E-Comm's security posture

What You Bring:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, combined with relevant industry training—or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in information security operations, with hands-on experience in monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
  • Strong knowledge of information security principles, risk management, and frameworks such as NIST, COBIT, or ISO 27001/2.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Security+ are considered an asset.
  • Technical expertise with SIEM platforms and threat management tools (Splunk, Elastic, RSA, or similar).
  • Knowledge of operational security tactics and techniques (e.g., exploitation, persistence, lateral movement, social engineering).
  • Understanding of data encryption, VPNs, vulnerability management, and anti-malware solutions.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following cloud specialties is an asset:
    • Cloud networking and Cloud IAM
  • SSO and Federated Identity
  • Microsoft Defender for Cloud
  • Endpoint Security
  • SIEM and SOAR platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

As a condition of employment at E-Comm, the required Police Security Clearance applicable to the position must be acquired and maintained. This is a process carried out by our law enforcement partner agencies, facilitated by E-Comm. The minimum residency in Canada to qualify for this position, as established by our law enforcement partner agencies, is 5 years.

To qualify for this process, a candidate may be either a Canadian Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen. We regret any candidates under Student, Visitor, or Work Visas are not eligible for consideration.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Meaningful work - work with a sense of purpose, supporting the public and first-responders
  • Competitive salary - with the opportunity for increases
  • 4 weeks' vacation to start
  • Eligibility to participate in our Personal Time-Off Program
