The Municipal Engineer supports the Director of Engineering in meeting the obligations and responsibilities of the
City of Weyburn for the operation, maintenance, expansion, replacements and approval of all infrastructure and
activities affecting the Airport, the Solid Waste Management Facility, the Public Works departments, the Water
Treatment Plant, and Land Development.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Coordination
Identify and define any issues with City assets and determine best course of action to address.
Attend and participate in committee work with separate agencies, to present and capture information as
it relates to current and future projects.
- Assist in preparing designs, contracts and service agreements for operation, maintenance, replacement
and expansion of City assets.
Assist in preparing and managing Tenders.
Provide technical engineering support to various departments within the City of Weyburn.
Public Relations and Communication
- Interface between City staff and general public, providing City employees with appropriate information as
required to address concerns.
- Act as a representative of the City with consultants, contractors, government agencies and outside
agencies/groups.
Administration
Assist in developing annual reporting for landfill, lagoon releases and water treatment plant.
Fulfill reporting requirements for Ministry and Water Security Agency.
Develop and maintain the Emergency Flood Response Plan.
Conduct ongoing departmental document reviews.
Field Work
Conduct site supervision and Quality Assurance/Quality Control inspections.
Collect and document data from site visits.
Compiling and updating drawing records.
Conduct surveying of various sites and assets.
Inspection of contractors and developers to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor Degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or a three year Diploma in Environmental or Civil
Engineering Technology required.
- Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Saskatchewan or registration as an
A.Sc.T. or C.Tech in the Province of Saskatchewan
Operators Certificate for Water and Sewer would be an asset
Class 2 Water Distribution and Class 2 Waste Water would also be an asset
Qualifications and EXPERIENCE
Experience using specialized software (ex: GIS or AutoCad) would be considered an asset
Experience with asset management would be considered an asset
Practical and applied experience in Environmental or Civil Engineering would be considered an asset.

Job Status – Full-Time Temporary 18 Month Term
