About Us
The Emergency Health I+IT Solutions & Technology Management Branch (EHSTMB) provides technologies to support 911 ambulance communications and emergency health regulatory and oversight including applications and data needs by developing and supporting real-time data dashboards, Integration platforms, Reporting solutions and Mobile Applications.
Our large and mission critical operations supporting 9-1-1 ambulance communication results in close collaboration with ambulance dispatch operational managers, paramedic services, ORNGE, other first responders and hospital emergency departments to ensure communication technologies are running smoothly and are well integrated to support policies and programs under the Ontario Ambulance Act. EHSTMB plans for and implements new, best-in-class technologies that prioritize 9-1-1 calls and help dispatchers and first responders assure the right resources are assigned to the right place, with the right information, at the right time.
We are seeking a Senior Application Component Developer to design, build, and support iOS and Android mobile applications. The role involves direct engagement in the deployment and ongoing support of both cloud-based and on-premise solutions. This involves hands-on cloud engineering work to ensure systems are correctly installed, configured, and optimized for performance. Develop and support data services that provide real-time insights and facilitate mobile application functionality. This requires a strong understanding of data processing, visualization technologies, and mobile platform integration. Create, deploy, and maintain solutions for reporting, ensuring that data is accurately captured, processed, and presented in a user-friendly manner.
About the jobBring your expertise in application development, data analytics, and business intelligence. In this role, you will:
- provide senior technical consulting expertise designing, developing and implementing advanced/complex interactive applications in a multi-platform environment for systems that utilize technologies such as .NET, Java and iOS Cross-Platform Mobile App Development
- oversee technical planning and optimization of software development projects, offering expert recommendations to senior leadership
- evaluate and develop new system and hardware performance and ensure major implementation projects meet established deliverables
Note: occasional travel is required throughout the province to provide technical support to stakeholders
What you bring to the teamTechnical Skills and Experience
You have:
- demonstrated experience in Cross-Platform Mobile App Development using technologies such as Ionic Framework, Cordova plugins, Flutter, and similar frameworks
- working experience with mobile operating systems such as iOS, Android, and Windows OS
- strong understanding of user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design principles and their application in mobile and web environments
- strong experience in designing and developing APIs, integrating with internal and external systems, and utilizing API management tools such as Swagger, OpenAPI, Postman, and Apigee
- experience using XHTML, HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, AngularJS, Bootstrap, XSLT and XML for development
- solid understanding of security concepts including authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signatures, PKI, SSL, and industry-standard protocols such as OAuth, JWT, SAML, OpenID and Mutual TLS
- experience in all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), including unit, performance, and load testing
- demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and to design new modules and functionalities that meet client needs
- knowledge of continuous integration (CI), CI/CD pipelines, version control systems such as Git, and DevOps practices
- experience with XHTML, HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, AngularJS, Bootstrap, XSLT, and XML for frontend and backend development
- experience identifying and resolving technical issues, conducting root cause analysis, and developing recommendations and fixes
You have:
- skills to lead major, complex IT projects, direct teams of project staff and external consultants, and ensure project deliverables are delivered within specified parameters.
- experience in working on multiple, concurrent projects and multi-year projects.
You can:
- identify and coordinate the resolution of technical problems and incidents, conduct research, assess client requirements, lead design projects, and develop recommendations
- develop technical design features and alternatives to ensure effective operation of hardware and software platforms and IT security and quality control systems
You can:
- demonstrate effective communication skills to prepare reports and explain technical solutions to IT and non-technical stakeholders
- work co-operatively with project staff and external stakeholders to discuss application development methods, monitor and manage vendor contacts, and participate on various IT committees
- effectively communicate with all stakeholders to ensure everyone has the same understanding of the status, the progress and the next steps of the initiatives
- be a team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
