The Opportunity
We are seeking an Automation Programmer with strong experience in Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA to support Oil & Gas facilities throughout Alberta. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on system development, commissioning, and troubleshooting across a variety of control systems and remote sites.
You will work closely with project managers, engineers, field technicians, and clients to design, implement, and maintain automation and SCADA solutions for production, pipeline, and facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, configure, and maintain Ignition SCADA applications (Vision/Perspective, alarming, historian, reporting, scripting).
- Develop and maintain HMI/SCADA standards aligned with client and Elevate Energy Group best practices.
- Interface SCADA systems with PLCs, RTUs, and field instrumentation.
- Support commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of automation and SCADA systems at client sites.
- Assist with system upgrades, migrations, and expansions of existing control systems.
- Collaborate with engineering and field teams to resolve operational and performance issues.
- Provide technical support and documentation for completed systems.
- Ensure systems comply with applicable safety, cybersecurity, and Oil & Gas industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Automation Programmer or SCADA Developer in the Oil & Gas industry, preferably in Alberta.
- Strong hands-on experience with Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA.
- Solid understanding of PLC-based control systems and industrial communications.
- Working knowledge of automation programming concepts, logic, and system architecture.
- Experience integrating SCADA with multiple PLC platforms and field devices.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, control narratives, and technical drawings.
- Willingness to travel to field sites as required.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Assets (Nice to Have)
- Experience with ACM (AutoSol Communications Manager).
- Experience with common PLC platforms (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, Schneider, Siemens, GE/Emerson, ABB).
- Understanding of industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA/DA, Ethernet/IP).
- Scripting experience (Python, SQL, or similar) within SCADA environments.
- Experience with Oil & Gas production facilities, pipelines, compression, or midstream operations.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.

Pay: From $65.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
