Job Summary
- Position: Pipefitter Apprentice
- Location: Fort St. John, BC
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Schedule: 5-7 Days Per Week
- Compensation: Competitive hourly rates depending on year of apprenticeship and(or) experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipe systems for water, chemicals, or high-pressure applications in oil/gas industrial settings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, specifications, and technical documents to determine pipe types, tools, and task sequences.
- Assist with measuring, cutting, threading, and installing flanges, valves, and supports using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment (e.g., hydraulic torquing, cold cutting).
- Support installation of equipment, structural steel, perform bolt-up, flange facing, and pressure testing.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas; participate in pre-job safety meetings and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Travel to job sites as needed; adhere to site-specific protocols for oilfield or turnaround projects.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: High school diploma; enrolled in or eligible for a Pipefitter/Steamfitter apprenticeship program.
- Experience: 1+ years in trades (e.g., laborer, welding helper), Oil/gas or industrial exposure is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Proficiency with tools (e.g., pipe threaders, hand tools) and safe rigging/lifting.
- Physical fitness for heavy lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces/at heights.
- Knowledge of isometric drawings and piping systems is considered an asset.
- Other Requirements:
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with clean abstract.
- Ability to pass pre-access drug/alcohol testing and site medicals.
- Oilfield tickets: H2S Alive, Intermediate First Aid, Transportation Endorsement, Fall Protection, Confined Space (preferred/required for most roles).
- Reliable transportation; willingness to work.
