Position Summary
This is an on-site position in Burlington
As a Software Acceptance Test (SWAT) Engineer at Thales BUR in Canada, you will play a key role in both Build phase testing and Run phase daily support of software deliverables for Thales' customers. Your responsibilities include managing deployment packages from Order Engineering (OE) and IPS across SAT, PAT, and PROD environments, ensuring thorough testing and validation during the Build phase. During the Run phase, you will monitor and support data processing systems to maintain optimal performance. Additionally, you will keep Thales Perso systems aligned with the IPS reference framework, maintain and enhance test automation, improve real-time monitoring solutions, and proactively identify opportunities for system and process improvements.

Essential Functions

  • Monitoring of system changes before delivered to production, including but not limited to:

  • PAT/BCP DP/Monitoring tests;

  • Data Processing on PAT/PROD environment;
  • Validation of reports on PAT/PROD;
  • Monitor/ stress test on PAT environment.

  • Support Daily of data processing

  • Monitoring the data processing system

  • Remediation of any issues to ensure Production meets SLA
  • On-Call support during 3rd shift and weekend to support DP system

  • Coordination of Root cause analysis on production issue including but not limited to:

  • Personalization machine software errors and provide logs to analyze data if necessary to next support Level.
  • Support the other Thales Teams to test, integrate and validate proprietary Personalization applications in a testing and production environment.
  • Enhancing real-time monitoring solutions by adding dashboards and subsequent queries to provide data
  • Support/implement Thales' Personalization ISO specifications and is PCI-CP (VISA/MC) compliant Working closely with the IT manager and the Security manager to ensure the highest level of security.
  • Support/update Personalization machines software, certain features of their hardware, and how they operate. These systems are compiled but not limited to data processing servers, Oracle/MySQL/MariaDB databases, card personalization platforms and cryptographic servers
  • Research for new solutions to fix frequently issues;
  • Work focused on ticket system for the daily support;
  • Monitor your activities related with your goals.
  • Support if required to be on call to work mandatory weekends when support if needed.
  • Ability to create procedures and organize trainings to others teams.
  • Ability to understand new technologies and products, through training and self-study of specifications and documentation
  • Providing support and training to the team and other teams to ensure smooth deployment and integration into the current production process
  • Ensuring thorough testing of new data processing software and smart personalization scripts provided by the regional development and R&D team when major changes occur
  • Troubleshooting of data processing providing root cause analysis and perform software and scripts when needed to improve the process
  • Writing and maintaining proper documentation of all the critical processes and systems
  • Work with other teams in projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree - Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • MS Office - Word, Excel, Power point, Visio, Outlook and Skype. ( Advanced level );
  • Windows 7, 10, Windows Server 2008/2012 server administrator;
  • Some knowledge on MSSQL, Oracle, MariaDB.
  • Network setup – connectivity test, troubleshooting
  • Audit ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001
  • Perso machines ( MX6000/6100 / DC9000/DX5100 Perso Master, BH)
  • EMV personalization
  • Thales Systems (Platform, SPI, KMS, Workestra, SMS)
  • 3+ year of Production experience.
  • Good communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Goal oriented, possess a sense of urgency and capable to work under pressure.
  • Willing to work with team members inside/outside the department.
  • PL/SQL Programming Course
  • T-SQL ( SQL queries );
  • Oracle ( SQL queries )
  • MS SQL/Oracle/MariaDB database knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience setting up Grafana dashboards

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to left and carry a minimum of 25lbs.
  • Must have the ability to use a variety of hand tools to test/replace PC components
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motion with wrists, hands and fingers for 6 hours per day (up to ¾ of the day)
