Job Summary
The SAP Master Data Analyst supports Maintenance & Reliability (M&R) initiatives by managing SAP PM and MM master data critical to facility operations. This role ensures data integrity across equipment, materials, and maintenance plans, enabling efficient execution of preventive and corrective maintenance strategies in a highly regulated, asset-intensive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain accurate and standardized material master data (e.g., equipment, spare parts, BOMs) in SAP for mechanical assets.
- Develop and maintain SAP PM module master data, including:
- Equipment and functional location hierarchies
- Classes, characteristics, and measurement points
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Maintenance strategies and task lists
- Cost/work centers and maintenance plans
- Optimize material descriptions, classification, and stock strategies to support efficient procurement and inventory management.
- Build and maintain single-cycle, strategy-based, and multiple-counter preventive maintenance (PM) plans aligned with asset criticality and operational risk.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and reliability teams to align PM tasks with asset criticality and operational priorities.
Create and maintain Material Master (MM) records using standardized nomenclature and ensure accurate assignment of:
Material group, PO text, Manufacturer/MPN
Cost element, MRP settings, QA/QC requirements (e.g., certifications, pressure ratings)
Work closely with vendors and the procurement team to obtain accurate technical specifications for BOM creation, particularly for long-lead or critical spares.
- Ensure Material Master records support BOM development and that asset history catalogs are created and maintained for new assets and brownfield expansions.
- Lead master data cleansing efforts to eliminate duplicates, obsolete parts, inactive vendors, and non-standard entries—supporting inventory accuracy and compliance.
- Support development of measuring points and CBM strategies to optimize asset availability and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams to develop master data for capital projects, commissioning, and Management of Change (MOC).
- Generate maintenance procedure checklists, inspection templates, and work instruction sheets.
- Support vendor mobilization and coordination for on-site preventive and corrective maintenance campaigns.
- Analyze KPIs (e.g., mean time between failure, PM compliance, maintenance backlog) to audit maintenance plan effectiveness and drive data-driven optimization.
- Train maintenance personnel on SAP PM/MM best practices and support SAP rollout or system enhancements as needed.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards (e.g., ISO, API, OSHA, corporate M&R frameworks).
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3-5 years of SAP Master Data experience within the oil & gas sector
Systems Expertise:
Strong experience with SAP PM and MM modules; familiarity with other CMMS platforms like Maximo or Primavera is a plus.
Capable of navigating and supporting processes such as material reservation, requisitioning, and maintenance cost tracking.
Technical Proficiency:
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Familiarity with engineering specifications, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and asset tagging standards.
Communication:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interface with cross-functional teams, vendors, and field technicians.
Team Collaboration:
Demonstrated experience working in multi-disciplinary teams in operations, maintenance, and reliability environments.
Preferred:
Knowledge of ISO data for reliability/maintenance), API standards, and MOC processes.
