Claroscuro Architecture Inc. is seeking a
Junior Architectural Technologist

to join its studio in Edmonton. This role is intended for a recent graduate or early-career technologist who is motivated to develop strong technical skills, apply design and construction knowledge, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality architectural projects.

Qualifications

Required

· ​0–2 years of relevant architectural or drafting experience.

· Diploma in Architectural Technology (or equivalent).

· Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, including the ability to develop drawings from scratch in Revit.

· Strong capability in AutoCAD, recognizing that some projects continue to be delivered in this software.

· Demonstrated interest in:

o  Critical thinking while drafting and an understanding of good detailing principles.

o  Gaining working knowledge of the Alberta Building Code.

o  Learning to coordinate architectural drawings with engineering and other consultant disciplines.

o  Assisting in the development and maintenance of CAD and Revit libraries (blocks and families).

Preferred (Assets)

· ​Previous experience in an architectural or related professional environment.

· Exposure to construction sites in any capacity.

· Understanding of how details function three-dimensionally and the principles of sound constructability.

· Introductory knowledge of building code requirements.

· Proficiency in SketchUp for 3D modeling.

· Experience with rendering software such as Enscape, Lumion, or Twinmotion, or similar visualization tools.

· Develop strong time management skills and contribute to maintaining and enhancing the quality standards that support long-term client relationships.

· Learn to support Project Architects in coordinating with sub-consultants and authorities having jurisdiction.

· Participate as a productive team member using AutoCAD and Revit on a daily basis.

· One block from LRT stations connecting with all three Edmonton LRT lines.

Recruitment Process

The selection process typically consists of two interviews.

· ​First interview (preferably in person, unless the candidate is from out of town): Focus on understanding the candidate's background, experience level, and overall fit with the studio culture.

· Second interview (in person at the office): May include technical questions related to software proficiency and architectural detailing.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation

· The salary for this position will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, skills, and capacity to take on responsibilities within the firm.

Benefits

· ​Health, dental, and extended healthcare benefits available following successful completion of a three‑month probationary period.

· Monthly benefits premium with 50% of the cost covered by the employer.

Time Off and Flexibility

· ​Vacation entitlement: 2 weeks of paid vacation annually, plus office closure over the Christmas period (specific dates confirmed each year).

· Flexible work hours within the week, allowing time to attend to personal matters provided hours are made up in the same week and coordinated with the team.

· Time worked beyond regular hours may be taken as time off in lieu, subject to prior approval by the team.

· Sick days available on an as-needed basis, on an unpaid basis.

Work Location

· ​Standard expectation is in‑office work.

Transportation and Expenses

·
​Transportation allowance of $250 every three months.

·
Reimbursement of mileage for site visits and other work-related vehicle travel at applicable CRA rates.
