Job Summary

The Mental Health Therapist will provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and community-based mental health services to children, youth, and families. The role supports innovative programs including early psychosis intervention, mobile mental health clinics, and prenatal/postnatal care for mothers and children. The therapist will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and community partners to improve access to care and promote community wellness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed assessments, treatment, and one-on-one counselling for youth and families
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments using the Social Determinants of Health framework
  • Deliver culturally safe, anti-oppressive therapeutic interventions tailored to individual needs
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and community programs, including prenatal/postnatal services
  • Support early psychosis intervention and mobile mental health clinics
  • Engage families and caregivers to strengthen mental wellness and resilience
  • Participate in non-police mental health crisis response initiatives
  • Provide case management, system navigation, and referrals
  • Maintain accurate, confidential clinical documentation
  • Contribute to program evaluation, quality improvement, outreach, and health promotion activities

Qualifications & Assets

  • Master's degree in Social Work or Counselling/Therapy (or equivalent experience)
  • Registration with OCSWSSW or CRPO (required)
  • Minimum 3 years of counselling/therapy experience, preferably in community-based youth services
  • Experience working with Black youth and families and commitment to Afrocentric and anti-oppressive practice
  • Strong skills in assessment, counselling, crisis intervention, and caseload management
  • Knowledge of community-based mental health and substance use services

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.00 per hour
