Job Overview:

Kingston Midstream is recruiting an experienced Engineer to join our fast-paced Operations Engineering team. Reporting to the Manager, Operations Engineering, the successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to support the company by developing and implementing technical solutions to pipeline system operational and engineering issues. The Operations Engineer will be responsible for the design and project management of capital, expense, and ARO projects relating to the upgrade, maintenance, and retirement of liquid pipelines and facilities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering and technical support to Operations and other internal stakeholders to ensure the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of facilities, considering all aspects of operations, construction, operational risk management, integrity management, and expansion of pipeline operations.
  • Work with Operations and technical staff to develop and implement solutions to resolve operational issues.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary upgrade, maintenance, retirement, electrical, and controls projects up to $2,000,000 each utilizing best practices and following the Project Delivery Process to ensure a cost effective, fit for purpose design.
  • Prepare designs and specifications for review and approval from stakeholders.
  • Plan and implement work in accordance with the Company's HSE policies, SLMS requirements, Engineering and MOC Processes, construction standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable legislation.
  • Direct the efforts of internal and external departments, consultants, and contractors to ensure that the project scope, schedule, and budget meet company objectives.
  • Ensure that correspondence is conducted in a manner that ensures sound relationships with regulators, industry personnel, customers, contractors, communities, landowners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure that mechanical, electrical, and civil facilities are designed and commissioned so that the pipeline systems can be operated in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Participate in and manage long range planning to identify, scope, and justify future projects that align with KM's strategies, directives, and vision based on initiatives, needs, regulations, and identified gaps.

Working Conditions:

Office environment with occasional travel throughout the Kingston Midstream pipeline system.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree (Electrical preferred but others will be considered) or suitable technical designation
  • Eligible to be registered with APEGS, APEGM, and APEGA or provincial technologist/technician associations
  • 4-10 years of progressively responsible experience in Pipeline Engineering, Electrical Design, Piping Design, Pipeline Operations, Operations Engineering, and/or Project Management
  • Knowledge of pipeline standards including CSA Z662, regulations including the CER OPR and SK/MB/AB Pipeline regulations, industry best practices, and pipeline system operations is an asset
  • Electrical, Instrumentation, and/or Controls experience is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, organizational, computer, and change management skills
  • Ability to work and communicate with internal and external stakeholders on a frequent basis
  • Proven ability to operate with a high degree of personal initiative
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license and an acceptable driver's abstract
