Job Overview:
The Housekeeping Attendant plays a critical role in the health, safety, and well-being of our residents by ensuring sanitation and infection control measures are maintained throughout the residence. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and possesses a positive attitude, treating residents and their personal belongings with respect and empathy. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily and weekly cleaning duties in resident suites and common areas (e.g., lounges, dining rooms, hallways, public washrooms) according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Duties include sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and disinfecting surfaces, as well as cleaning and polishing fixtures and appliances.
  • Adhere strictly to all infection prevention and control (IPAC) protocols to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Safely handle and store cleaning supplies and chemicals in accordance with Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) guidelines.
  • Empty waste containers and transport garbage to designated disposal areas daily.
  • Monitor and report any maintenance concerns, unsafe conditions, or faulty equipment to the supervisor immediately.
  • Stock linen closets and other supply areas, and assist with laundry duties as required.
  • Interact with residents, families, and guests in a professional, friendly, and respectful manner.
  • Complete all required mandatory training and comply with all corporate policies and relevant legislation (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act). 

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience, preferably in a healthcare, hotel, long-term care, or retirement home setting, is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in English (both written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of standard institutional cleaning techniques and safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the job duties, including prolonged standing/walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), pushing/pulling carts, and coping with time pressures.
  • A reliable work ethic and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Must be able to provide a current and satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.
