The Role

This is a part-time opportunity for an HR Specialist to support day-to-day HR administrative functions, including recruitment coordination, employee file management, onboarding assistance, and general HR office duties. The role is 3 days per week at 7.5 hours per day with an hourly wage that is highly competitive for the role.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coordinating full-cycle recruitment for airport administrative, operations, and specialized roles, including job postings, screening, testing coordination, interviews, and references.
  • Preparing employment offers, contracts, and onboarding packages in accordance with airport authority policies.
  • Maintaining personnel files, training records, medical and security documents, and confidential HR data.
  • Assisting with HR policy development, regulatory updates, and communication to staff and management.
  • Supporting benefits administration, attendance tracking, and employee status changes.
  • Supporting performance management processes, corrective action documentation, and training compliance.
  • Preparing HR metrics and reports for leadership, including staffing levels, turnover, training compliance, and safety-related HR data.
  • Providing HR guidance to operations supervisors and frontline airport personnel.
  • Coordinating staffing needs, shift coverage, training updates, and certifications required for airside and terminal operations.
  • Supporting accident/incident documentation from an HR perspective, ensuring proper reporting and follow-up.
  • Assisting with workplace investigations involving operational staff, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with policies.
  • Supporting return-to-work programs and modified duties for staff working in safety-sensitive or regulated roles.
  • Assisting with onboarding security requirements, including issuing RAICs, AVOP documentation, and access badges when required.
  • Ensuring all employee access records, renewals, and security clearances comply with Transport Canada standards.
  • Assisting with compliance audits related to airport access control and documentation.
  • Others duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.

    Produces and maintains accurate, organized, and compliant records, reports, and employee files; drafts and updates HR policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory and operational requirements.

     – Builds strong working relationships across departments, including operations, maintenance, and security.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of HR experience; airport, aviation, municipal environment experience considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of provincial employment legislation, HR best practices, and Transport Canada security requirements.
  • Experience working with ADP or HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems, and digital record-keeping.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and confidentiality skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
