Red Seal Gas Technician – Heating & Combustion Systems
The Opportunity
On Track HVAC is hiring a Red Seal Gas Technician to support our growing demand for natural gas and propane heating service and installation work across Nova Scotia. This role is focused on diagnostics, combustion, and code-compliant heating systems, with opportunities to expand beyond gas as your skills grow.
This position is well suited to a technician who values proper troubleshooting, clean installs, and long-term career progression, not rushed callbacks or corner-cutting.
Who We Are
On Track HVAC is a Nova Scotia–based mechanical contractor working across residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial environments. Our core work includes gas heating, HVAC, refrigeration, hydronics, and mechanical systems, and we support technicians who want to deepen their technical ability and take on higher-responsibility roles.
Primary Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and install natural gas and propane-fired heating equipment
- Perform combustion analysis, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical diagnostics
- Complete preventive maintenance and warranty-related service work
- Handle scheduled and priority service calls in a professional, organized manner
- Document findings, repairs, and recommendations clearly and accurately
- Ensure all work complies with CSA codes, safety standards, and manufacturer requirements
- Maintain assigned service vehicle, tools, and job materials
- Communicate clearly with customers, coordinators, and internal team members
- Support and mentor apprentices or junior technicians when required
Required Qualifications
- Red Seal Gas Technician
- Gas Fitter A or B License
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Proven experience servicing gas-fired heating systems
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability
- Ability to work independently and manage service calls end-to-end
- Professional communication and customer-facing skills
Assets (not required):
- Oil burner experience
- Controls, hydronic, or refrigeration background
Training, Growth & Advancement
- Paid technical and manufacturer training
- Support for expanding into additional tickets and certifications
- Exposure to commercial and institutional heating systems
- Technicians who demonstrate leadership, reliability, and teamwork are considered for:
