JOB OVERVIEW

The Quality Assurance Auditor Lead is based in Hamilton, ON and reports to the Quality Assurance Supervisor based in Kelowna, BC. The Quality Assurance Auditor Lead is responsible for coordination, execution and completion of all the assigned audit activities identified in the QAPM (Quality Assurance Procedures Manual).

The successful candidate will be the primary contact for Quality Assurance in YHM, and support SMS related activities for YHM. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the QA Supervisor and will work closely with the QA Manager, QA team, and the Hangar Operations Manager to ensure requirements are met.

This position is responsible for providing day-to-day direction to the YHM Quality Assurance team to ensure they are operating efficiently and effectively.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out audits as required per KFL audit schedule to verify compliance to regulatory, ISO 9001 and KFL policy requirements
  • Monitor YHM audit planning schedules and ensure timely completion
  • Review applicable regulations and standards to verify compliance
  • Sample work orders for accuracy, completion, and compliance with all airworthiness requirements
  • Effectively communicate audit results (both written and oral) and recommend and take corrective action, as applicable
  • Verify the effectiveness of corrective/preventive actions
  • Develop policies/procedures in order to maintain KF manuals
  • Identify, initiate, recommend or provide solutions to quality problems through designated channels
  • Liaise with Customers to confirm technical records and signing authority
  • Liaise with Transport Canada to obtain flight permits and validations
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and supervision to the Quality Assurance team in Hamilton
  • Evaluate and develop employees through performance reviews, ongoing coaching and feedback methods
  • Responsible to support the Safety Management System and related processes
  • Investigate SMS incidents and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement
  • Verify the effectiveness of corrective / preventative action taken as a result of SMS incident investigations
  • Develop SMS related policies and procedures as required
  • Retain and safeguard documents pertaining to the audit: submit such documents as required, ensure such documents remain confidential and treat privileged information with discretion
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Supervisor or Quality Assurance Manager

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar technical position
  • Experience in a QA/SMS role within the aviation industry
  • Valid TC AME license or experience related to the audit scope activities and internal / 3rd party audit training or prior SMS experience is required
  • Must have an understanding of the Canadian Aviation Regulations
  • Experience writing reports and interpreting standards is an asset
  • Computer skills – Word and Excel programs
  • Must have strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Must be able to multitask
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be willing to contribute as a team participant
  • Must be willing and able to travel occasionally

LOCATION

The successful incumbent would be based in our Hamilton, Ontario office.

This role is 100% on-site; it is not hybrid or remote.

SALARY

The wage band is level 11, $84,000-$105,000. The expertise and technical skill level of the candidate is assessed during the selection process for placement within the band. Note: The salary range maximum signifies full job knowledge.
