Job Description

We are seeking a Junior Electrical Designer to play a key role in our building design projects. In this role, you'll work directly with a senior electrical engineer to design electrical systems for a variety of commercial, residential, and institutional buildings. This is a unique opportunity to work in a small company where you'll have broad responsibilities, direct involvement in projects, and the chance to see the tangible impact of your work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams in designing electrical systems for various building facilities, under the supervision of a senior electrical engineer.
  • Apply your knowledge of electrical design and related calculations, including single-line diagrams, feeder sizing, panel board sizing, fault analysis, and voltage drop calculations.
  • Design systems for power distribution, lighting, power generation, controls, fire alarms, public address, nurse call, voice/data communications, security, and CCTV.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and sales representatives.
  • Prepare project documentation and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Conduct site visits, reviews, and assist with contract administration.

Qualifications

  • Background as an Engineer-in-Training, Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), Technologist-in-Training, or Electrician is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with commercial, retail, office, residential, and institutional projects.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Valid Alberta driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.
