Manager, Franchisee and Restaurant Communications, Tim Hortons
Job Summary
We are looking for a seasoned communications professional who is passionate about solving problems and testing new ideas. Do you have excellent writing and editing chops? In this role, you will be responsible for taking business priorities and translating them for Tim Hortons franchisees and their teams and connecting the dots to make communications more impactful and effective. You will have the unique opportunity to shape the restaurant communications strategy for one of Canada's most loved brands, while leading the day-to-day responsibilities, including content creation, channel management and data analysis to drive content strategy.

You're the ideal candidate if you have a proven track record of managing complex communications, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional business results and experience in the grocery-retail or restaurant industries. This role will report to and partner with the Director of Internal, Franchisee and Advisory Board Communications to shape Tim Hortons franchisee and restaurant communications.

RBI follows a 5 day, in-office work schedule to support collaboration. Candidates should be comfortable working onsite 5 days per week.
Core Responsibilities
Franchisee and Restaurant Communications:

  • Build strong relationships and work cross-functionally to keep a pulse on business priorities and advise senior leadership on most effective way to deliver messages to the restaurant level
  • Create and implement an insights-driven restaurant communications strategy for Tim Hortons (creation / optimization of channels, execution of channels, reporting back to leadership)
  • Develop content strategy, consistent messaging and connectivity to brand strategy for communication channels (e.g. agenda / narrative for franchisee meetings, weekly business update notes, webcasts, etc.).
  • Craft and edit content across channels tailored to target audiences and manage end-to-end process
  • Responsible for developing and disseminating key franchisee and restaurant communications, including a weekly franchisee note, maintaining the franchisee intranet, a monthly webcast and ad hoc communications
  • Work closely with SMEs to develop and refine their content
  • Lead reporting on content performance and provide insight into on what's effective in driving engagement and execution and areas of opportunity leveraging data
  • Be able to adopt, adapt or develop communication strategies and tools that align with business priorities

Event Management

  • Lead planning and executing regional franchisee meetings in 6-10 cities across Canada, including:

  • Lead content planning and prep meetings with the senior leadership team Work closely with the events team to source venues, menus, flights and accommodations

  • Develop and execute all event communications
  • Prepare content (e.g. script and slides) with senior leadership presenters to develop content
  • Manage design and translation team
  • Develop and manage registration portal

  • Lead planning and executing virtual regional franchisee meetings, including:

  • Lead content planning and prep meetings with the senior leadership team

Issues and Crisis Communications

  • Responsible for drafting and distributing franchisee and restaurant communications for food holds / recalls, product issues, procedural alerts and other issues as required
  • Advise on best approach to / channels for communications and communications type e.g. proactive or reactive
  • A key member of the cross-functional issues / crisis team, which includes senior people from throughout the business
  • Attend crisis calls and meetings

Develop and Rollout Tools and Develop and Rollout New Intranet

  • Manage and become an expert on communication platforms / software and lead implementation of new tools that improve the franchisee / restaurant communications experience
  • Lead the implementation and development of a new restaurant communications intranet, including developing project charter, plans, migration strategy and working with all teams cross functionally to deliver on time and on budget

Franchisee Recognition Program

  • Lead franchisee awards and recognition for convention and regional meetings, including communications; award and ribbon souring and design
  • Manage and track against awards and recognition budget

Education And Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field / experience or relevant professional certifications
  • 5-7 years of professional experience – communications experience in restaurant, grocery-retail, hospitality or an operations role an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Proven ability to understand, synthesize and communicate complex information into a clear, concise and compelling narrative
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • A forward and creative thinker with proven problem-solving abilities
  • Team player with proactive and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines and objectives

Salary
Base salary range of $100,000.00 – $130, Base salary for this position may vary based on relevant factors such as experience, education, location, and skills.

This position is eligible to participate in the Company's annual discretionary bonus plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the incentive program, based on individual and company performance metrics. This position may also be eligible for additional compensation in the form of equity grants pursuant to the Company's long-term incentive plan.
