Title: Junior Calibration Specialist R&D (Analytical Laboratory)

Reports to : R&D Equipment and Utilities Supervisor

The research and development Junior calibration specialist support the development of new pharmaceutical dosage forms in addition to improving existing products and procedures. The Junior calibration specialist work under the guidance of the R&D Equipment and Utilities Supervisor to ensure research and development laboratory instruments and related software are installed, qualified, validated, calibrated and maintained in adequate working conditions and in accordance with GMPs, and current regulatory expectations for data governance and data integrity.

This position performs activities assigned by the R&D Equipment and Utilities Supervisor to meet the company's goals within the specified timelines. This position also requires documenting, reviewing, analysing and interpreting data in a timely manner while complying with departmental SOP's and guidelines set out by the regulatory agencies and ICH (International Conference on Harmonisation). This will be achieved by working very closely with the formulation development, analytical development and R&D QA teams.

Key job responsibilities and duties:

· Prepare and execute the instrument qualification documents including but not limited to: IQ, OQ, PQ Protocols and Reports, Functional Risk Assessment, Qualification Plan, Traceability Matrix as required by R&D Equipment and Utilities Supervisor.

· Review technical documents such as instrument qualification, verification, and calibration and repair documents in accordance with GMP requirements.

· Develop, review and perform calibration procedures for all R&D analytical instrumentation as required by R&D Equipment and Utilities Supervisor.

· Perform calibration and preventative maintenance for analytical instrumentation as per calibration schedule.

· Maintain calibration and preventative maintenance data.

· Perform and execute testing as per methods, following the company policies, SOPs and cGMP guidelines.

· Document and report results in accordance with GMP and GLP.

· Participate in hands-on training and support the Analysts in the lab on analytical instrumentation use as required.

· Maintain analytical instruments and related software in accordance with GMPs, and current regulatory expectations for data governance and data integrity.

· Participate in the troubleshooting of instrument problems and communicates with vendors/suppliers to resolve problems and arrange repairs.

· Assist in writing deviations, change controls, CAPA, equipment repairs reports and Out of Specification Calibration investigation reports pertaining to analytical instrumentation in compliance with GMP requirements.

· Perform other related duties as assigned to support operational and business needs.

Education and experience requirements:

· Canadian equivalent to Master of Science or Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Pharmacy, Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

· More than one year of relevant hands-on pharmaceutical experience in calibration and maintenance of analytical instrumentation. Demonstrate knowledge of analytical chemistry. Experience with Chromeleon software is preferred.

· Demonstrate ability to work independently or as a part of a team.

· Highly motivated and have the skills to handle multiple projects and prioritize the work.

· Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills are required.
