At Cognichip, we are building the next-generation enterprise platform to empower semiconductor design engineers with a 10x productivity boost through AI-native workflows, scalable cloud infrastructure, and modern developer experiences.

We are seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer / Architect to lead the design, implementation, and operations of Cognichip's cloud infrastructure on AWS, supporting our multi-plane architecture and enabling enterprise-grade deployment models including SaaS, single-tenant, and self-hosted. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who thrives in early-stage environments, enjoys building secure and scalable systems from first principles, and can help shape Cognichip's DevOps foundation for long-term velocity, reliability, and compliance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Architect and evolve Cognichip's AWS infrastructure and deployment strategy for enterprise customers, ensuring scalability, reliability, and clear separation of concerns.
  • Own and advance our Infrastructure-as-Code foundation using Terraform, including repeatable multi-environment and multi-account patterns.
  • Design and operate Amazon EKS infrastructure, including cluster architecture, upgrades, autoscaling, and secure workload execution.
  • Build and maintain GitOps delivery workflows using ArgoCD, including configuration management and safe rollout/rollback.
  • Mature observability using Prometheus, Loki, Grafana, and CloudWatch, including dashboards, alerting, and incident readiness.
  • Design secure IAM and access control models, including least-privilege policies and cross-account roles for internal and customer environments.
  • Partner with Security and Engineering leadership to support SOC 2, GDPR, and SSDLC through controls, auditability, and secure pipelines.
  • Drive production excellence through runbooks, on-call readiness, and continuous improvements in reliability, cost, and operational simplicity.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, infrastructure engineering, or platform engineering roles, including ownership of production cloud systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS, including core building blocks such as VPC networking, IAM, EKS, load balancing, and storage.
  • Deep expertise in Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code design patterns (modules, environments, state management, and reusable architecture).
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes and containerized production workloads, including operational debugging and cluster-level architecture decisions.
  • Experience building modern deployment systems using GitOps and/or CI/CD, and a strong understanding of safe release practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating multi-account AWS environments at scale (organizations, account vending patterns, cross-account access, environment standardization).
  • Experience supporting enterprise deployment models including

  • Experience with Argo ecosystem tools (ArgoCD best practices, app-of-apps patterns, progressive delivery strategies).
