Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada Vitacore Industries Full time
About Vitacore: At Vitacore, we integrate cutting-edge research and technology with a profound commitment to sustainability and innovation. Established in 2020, Vitacore is driven by our mission to develop transformative products and services that address critical global issues, ensuring ethical practices and effective outcomes for the betterment of humankind and the planet. Our journey began with a focus on the healthcare sector, where we became leaders in manufacturing recycling single-use protective equipment. Today, we apply our expertise and innovative spirit to broader challenges, developing advanced technologies, sustainable practices, and innovative manufacturing processes that redefine what is possible across various industries.   About the Role: Vitacore is seeking an Innovation Development Manger to help commercialize ideas before they become products. This role is distinct from traditional business development. Rather than selling existing products or services, this individual will be responsible for selling Vitacore's vision, concepts, early-stage technologies, and innovation roadmap to external stakeholders. The focus is on building credibility, securing funding, generating strategic interest, and positioning Vitacore as a leading innovator in Canada and beyond.    You will engage directly with venture capital firms, strategic investors, grant agencies, accelerators, innovation hubs, government bodies, and potential strategic partners. Success in this role means opening doors, creating momentum, securing non-dilutive and dilutive funding, and helping early concepts progress toward commercialization.
This is a highly entrepreneurial role suited to someone comfortable operating in ambiguity, translating complex ideas into compelling narratives, and building trust before tangible products exist.    Responsibilities include: Innovation & Opportunity Development:
  • Identify, develop, and pursue funding and commercialization opportunities for early-stage concepts, R&D initiatives, and pre-product innovations.
  • Work closely with internal R&D, leadership, and technical teams to deeply understand Vitacore's innovation pipeline, scientific capabilities, and long-term vision.
  • Translate complex technical ideas into clear, compelling value propositions tailored to investors, grant agencies, and strategic partners.
Investor, VC & Grant Engagement:
  • Build and manage relationships with venture capital firms, angel investors, corporate venture arms, accelerators, and innovation-focused funds.
  • Lead outreach, pitching, and follow-up with potential investors and funding partners.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue relevant government grants, innovation funding programs, and non-dilutive capital opportunities.
  • Coordinate and contribute to grant applications, pitch decks, investment memos, and supporting materials.
Market Positioning & Thought Leadership:
  • Act as a key external ambassador for Vitacore's innovation efforts.
  • Help create buzz and market awareness around Vitacore's emerging technologies and innovation strategy.
  • Represent Vitacore at industry events, innovation forums, demo days, conferences, and networking opportunities.
  • Monitor innovation trends, competitive landscapes, and funding ecosystems to inform strategy and positioning.
Strategic Partnerships:
  • Identify and pursue strategic partnerships with industry players, research institutions, and commercialization partners.
  • Support early discussions around pilots, proof-of-concept collaborations, and joint development opportunities.
  • Help shape go-to-market and commercialization strategies for concepts transitioning toward product development.
Pipeline & Reporting:
  • Build and maintain a structured pipeline of innovation opportunities, funding prospects, and strategic leads.
  • Track engagement, progress, and outcomes using internal systems and reporting tools.
  • Provide regular updates and insights to senior leadership on opportunity status, risks, and next steps.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees are an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, innovation commercialization, venture engagement, or related roles.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with venture capital, investors, grant agencies, or innovation ecosystems.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical or scientific concepts in a clear, persuasive, and engaging way.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort operating in early-stage, fast-moving, and ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including pitch development and executive-level presentations.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in healthcare, biotech, sustainability, advanced manufacturing, or deep-tech environments is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems and pitch management tools is an asset.

Compensation:
  • Competitive base salary (commensurate with experience).
  • Performance based incentives and/or success-based bonuses tied to funding and partnership outcomes.
  • Comprehensive medical and dental benefits.
  • 3 weeks vacation.
  • Tuition Assistance Program.
  • Multiple company events throughout the year.
