Duties and Responsibilities Include

  • Building a Culture of Customer Service: Provide customers with friendly, helpful and efficient service in every interaction. Friendly: Smile, make eye contact, greet, compliment customers' purchases and thank them. Helpful: Respond quickly to customers as they approach the cash register, share sale/promotional information and inform customers of store values, product info. Efficient: Keep transactions moving. Be alert to customers waiting, work efficiently and call for additional sales assistance as needed.

  • Loss Prevention: Follows loss prevention procedures, including but not limited to reporting internal or external thefts to the manager. Maintains responsibility for cash in till; ensuring cash count during shift switch are done in a timely fashion, and that the cash drawer is only open for the time required to complete a cash transaction.

  • Cash Register: Smile and greet each customer. Provide accurate, fast, and efficient checkout service using the POS procedures as well as packaging sold items. Calls for assistance when more than two people are in line or may have to wait more than three minutes. Make sure the cash drawer balances at the start and finish of shift. Make sure there's enough change in till.

  • Merchandising: Follow floorwork assignments throughout the day as scheduled by the manager. Helps maintain organization and shop ability of the clothing department, jewellery and giftware areas and eliminate deadstock. Pick up items off the floor, return items to the proper areas, fold clothing. Dust, clean and organize clothing racks and shelves. Keep back stock areas organized. Help with any window changes or remerchandising.

  • Telephone: Answers the telephone within three rings in a courteous manner using the proper greeting. Asks the caller to please hold when ringing the customer in front of them, and gets assistance from another free team member when needed. Listening to the caller in order to provide answers or direct the caller to the manager.

  • Meets Targets: Regularly meets targets as assigned by the manager, ensures that orders will be within timelines ie shipping deadlines for in and out of province, deadlines for Christmas, orders being shipping within the posted timelines.

  • Safety: Follows standards in place to protect team members in order to provide a safe environment to work in. This includes but is not limited to picking up loose items on the floor, cleaning up breakages or spills, cleaning and disinfecting to required standards, and following product safety guidelines. Takes responsibility for reporting hazards or injuries to the manager.

  • Other: Other tasks as assigned by the manager. This can include working in, and/or assisting another team member, or with cleaning (including bathrooms, common areas), etc.

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal

Contract length: 2 months

Pay: From $17.60 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 12 per week
