The City of Courtenay invites applications for the position of "Group Fitness Instructor 2".

Fitness Instructors are responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and safe programs that meet the needs of participants across a range of ages and abilities.

Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Relevant certifications in accordance with industry standards (e.g. BCRPA, CanFit-Pro, ACE, NASM etc.).
  • OR a current membership in relevant professional organizations (e.g. BCAK, CATA, NSCA et.).
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR-C
  • Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector
  • At least 5 years of continuous experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in customer service, recreation, human/social services or in a leadership role is preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Solid knowledge of fitness and strength equipment
  • Physical abilities to lift and carry equipment up to 45lbs
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills

The current hourly wage is $ % in lieu. This is an entry level position with opportunities for growth. Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends. Hours and shifts are subject to change.
