We are seeking a highly experienced
Mechanical Engineer
specializing in
boilers and static equipment
to support engineering design, technical reviews, and project execution across major industrial facilities.

This is an on‑site, contract position based in
Calgary
, with an expected duration of
12–18 months
.

Subject Matter Expertise: Boilers & Static Equipment

The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise and field experience in:

  • Large industrial boilers (operation, design, maintenance, performance optimization)
  • Heat exchangers (shell & tube, plate, air‑cooled)
  • Condensers
  • Deaerators
  • Pressure vessels, tanks, and other static mechanical systems
  • Relevant codes and standards (ASME, API, CSA, etc.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with corporate Health, Safety & Environmental requirements in all engineering activities.
  • Deliver high‑quality mechanical engineering designs, specifications, and calculations for static equipment and boiler systems.
  • Collaborate closely with project stakeholders and contractors to ensure alignment with design criteria, cost, schedule, and operational needs.
  • Work with Operations to ensure system operability, maintainability, and reliability are addressed in the design.
  • Follow the Project Quality Management System and ensure compliance in all engineering deliverables.
  • Proactively manage mechanical scope and design, minimizing changes and following formal change control when required.
  • Ensure contractor engineering work meets required safety, environmental, efficiency, operability, and maintainability standards.
  • Act as the technical authority for boilers, heat exchangers, condensers, deaerators, and related static mechanical equipment.
  • Oversee and verify detailed mechanical engineering deliverables, including:
  • Mechanical datasheets
  • Material selection and specifications
  • Mechanical design calculations
  • Vendor documentation and equipment drawings
  • Support troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and performance assessments for thermal and mechanical systems.
  • Review contractor designs, P&IDs, and engineering packages for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in industrial facilities.
  • Extensive experience with:
  • Large industrial boilers
  • Heat exchangers and condensers
  • Deaerators
  • Other static mechanical systems and pressure equipment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical codes and standards (e.g., ASME Section I & VIII, API, CSA).
  • Experience supporting fabrication, construction, commissioning, and operations.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and collaboration skills.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA, or eligible for registration.
