About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Mechanic Millwright is responsible for the repair and maintenance of Canada Royal Milk's equipment, processes and property. The Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) performs daily preventative maintenance on the plant's equipment and makes adjustments and repairs to production equipment as the need arises during the course of production and often in cooperation with equipment operators to assist with solving these issues.
Job Requirements
Education: Minimum grade 12 or equivalent education
Certification: Provincial or Inter-Provincial Trade certification – Millwright (433 A License) is required.
Experience: 3 - 5 years relevant industrial manufacturing experience as certified Millwright
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Reads blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures
Provide maintenance services as assigned, throughout the plant
Provide maintenance services for new installation and repairs within the Plant according to safety, quality and trade standards and guidelines
Provide supervision feedback on information regarding jobs, including determining time required, material needs, manpower requirements and impact on uptime
Provide maintenance services on various shifts as assigned (if required), be available for on-call rotation.
Adjusts machinery and repairs or replaces defective parts
Cleans, lubricates and performs other routine maintenance work on machinery
Determines best practices and suggests how to improve current practices
Performs all tasks with adherence to applicable regulations
Adheres to health and safety considerations at all times
Other duties may be assigned
Working Conditions
Canada Royal Milk is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation. Rotating shift work 12h shift is required. Shift patterns are yet to be determined and will include days, evenings, weekends, statutory holidays, and over-night work. Employees must be flexible and willing to work a variety of shifts.
As a dairy processor and infant formula manufacturer, CRM strives to exceed regulatory requirements for food safety, quality, hygiene, and good manufacturing practices. All employees who enter the processing areas for any reason must comply with all food safety protocols in addition to health and safety best practices.
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment and include:
· Standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting and other physically demanding tasks performed for virtually the entire shift (8 to 12 hours)
· Lifting to 25 kg (55 lbs) frequently
· Use of various chemicals (i.e. detergents and sanitizing solutions)
· Possible exposure to dust, fumes, oils, unpleasant odors, noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable, occasional exposure to ambient temperatures above 28 Celsius and high humidity
· Exposure to physical risks using standardized safety precautions and equipment, including, but not limited to slippery surfaces, working around high-temperature equipment, heavy and repetitive lifting, etc.
