US Cross-Border Tax Analyst

We are seeking a detail-oriented and eager-to-learn Tax Analyst to join our US-Canada cross-border tax and accounting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing complex US and Canadian individual income tax returns. This position is ideal for candidates who are meticulous, proactive, and eager to contribute their expertise in a collaborative environment dedicated to US-Canada cross-border tax compliance and planning.
Responsibilities
- Prepare complex US and Canadian individual income tax returns, including required information forms (e.g., 5471, 8621, 3520, 8938) and FBARs for US citizens living and working in Canada, US, and Canadian citizens living and working in the US, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US and Canadian tax laws
- Prepare Canadian individual income tax returns for high-net-worth Canadian tax residents
- Research on tax issues encountered and provide conclusions and recommendations
- Manage CRA and IRS correspondence, including audits and notices
Experience
- 1 to 2 years of experience in preparing US and Canadian cross-border individual income tax returns
- Experience in preparing Canadian corporate, US corporate, and trust tax returns is an asset but not required
- Knowledge of expatriate tax, tax residency and tie-breaker rules, income sourcing, and cross-border implications of employment, investments and real estate, etc.
- Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and owner-managed businesses is an asset
- Familiarity with CRA/IRS audit processes
Qualifications
· US CPA, Canadian CPA, or IRS Enrolled Agent designation
· Bachelor's degree in accounting
