The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. Job Description
Join us for an exciting opportunity at the AESO, where you'll be part of the team playing a crucial role in connecting new generation and load facilities to Alberta's grid. With the AESO, you'll help move real projects from concept to reality - supporting developers, industrial customers, and emerging technologies as they navigate the AESO's Connection Process. The Regulatory and Transmission Services team is responsible for developing and maintaining the AESO Connection Process, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the process is efficient and effective. Our team provides essential support for projects by optimizing processes, driving efficiency, and ensuring accuracy. You will gain hands-on experience in project management, regulatory analysis, stakeholder engagement, and process design.
Our Regulatory and Transmission Services team is looking for an enthusiastic student to join our team for a 4-month term between May and September in a Process Analyst role.
The successful student will be mentored and supported while working closely with other analysts, project managers, engineers, and leaders to identify, analyze, and initiate process and document improvements. This role will work closely with internal mentors to develop and maintain process documentation, templates and tools, while learning about Alberta's complex electricity ecosystem.

You have:
Completed at least 3 years towards a degree in business, science, policy, energy, or sustainability, or a related discipline
Completion of a communication course with a focus in business or technical writing will be considered a strong asset
Experience working with Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Word
Great curiosity and interest in the electricity industry
Strong analytical acumen and an aptitude for conveying complex information in a simple, relevant, and meaningful manner to different audiences
Excellent time-management skills and self-driven initiative
Availability to work full-time hours from May to August 2026
