Job Summary

Ma's Soups & Sandwiches has just opened in Welland and will be offering homemade soups and hearty sandwiches made with care and fresh ingredients daily featuring a takeout only structure. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, ensure food safety standards are met, and support the kitchen staff in delivering high-quality meals. This role is perfect for individuals with a passion for cooking, food service, and the food industry, looking to develop their skills. May turn in to full time for the right candidate depending on performance and on growing business needs. A current Food Handlers Certificate is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients and assist in food preparation according to recipes and standards
  • Handle food safely and maintain proper hygiene practices during all stages of food handling
  • Assist with cooking tasks, including chopping, slicing, marinating, and assembling sandwiches
  • Support the kitchen team in maintaining cleanliness and organization of workstations
  • Ensure all food is prepared efficiently to meet service times
  • Follow health and safety regulations to uphold food safety standards
  • Assist with inventory management by organizing supplies and notifying management of stock needs

Requirements

  • Prior experience in food preparation or restaurant service is required
  • Knowledge of food handling, safety procedures, and kitchen equipment operation.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including weekends or holidays if required
  • Passion for the food industry and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From $17.60 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week

Work Location: In person
