About Island Gold Mine: Alamos Gold's Island Gold Mine is one of Canada's highest grade and lowest cost gold mines. With over 550 team members, the underground operation is located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Role Overview/Purpose:    

Reporting to the Supervisor, Drill and Blast, the Drill Labourer will assist the Mine Operations team in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Primary Responsibilities:
• Ensure all tasks are completed in a safe, environmentally conscious manner and compliant with all company policies and procedures.
• Manual labour duties supporting open pit Mine Operations including loading and unloading materials, backfilling, dewatering tasks, site traffic assistance and equipment operation (training provided).
• Participate in safety / toolbox meetings.
• Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a safe and orderly manner.
• Provide assistance as needed to other members of the Mine Operations Team

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous experience in a mine or other heavy industry environment.
  •Familiarity with drills and previous experience working near earth moving equipment.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Open Pit mining experience would be an asset
• Experience with small equipment preferred (ex. skid steer/zoom boom/boom truck).
• Able to work independently or within a team.
• Motivated and safety focused.
• Solid communication skills, able to understand and follow directions accurately and safely.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work outside in inclement weather.

Working Conditions:

• The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometres northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
• The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 7 days on / 7 days off.
