Job Description:

A dynamic and challenging opportunity is available for a motivated and independent individual to join a specialized wildlife management team. This contract position is for a dedicated professional to manage wildlife deterrence at specific sites. The primary responsibility will be to mitigate the presence of nuisance bird species, particularly geese, in a large, open area. This role is crucial to maintaining a safe and clean environment for our client.

This is a physical, hands-on position that requires working outdoors in all weather conditions. The successful candidate will need to be self-reliant, highly responsible, and capable of problem-solving in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively patrol and monitor the assigned site to deter nuisance wildlife, with a focus on bird species.
  • Utilize a variety of approved deterrence methods to encourage wildlife to relocate.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs and reports of wildlife activity and management efforts.
  • Safely and responsibly operate a personal vehicle for site access and transportation.
  • Work independently to execute the daily management plan.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion at all times.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Possession of a reliable vehicle suitable for work and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work in a variety of outdoor environments and weather conditions.
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
  • A strong affinity for and proven ability to work with animals.
  • Must be self-motivated, with a high degree of integrity and the ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.

Preferred But Not Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Current hunting and/or firearms license.
  • Prior experience in wildlife management, pest control, or a related field.
  • Experience with a variety of wildlife deterrence techniques.
  • Possession of a well-trained dog that is effective at hazing and is comfortable in a field environment.
