Senior Software Development Engineer

This position is part of the AWS Specialist and Partner Organization (ASP). Specialists own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for their respective technology domains, providing the business and technical expertise to help our customers succeed. Partner teams own the strategy, recruiting, development, and growth of our key technology and consulting partners. Together they provide our customers with the expertise and scale needed to build innovative solutions for their most complex challenges.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record of success delivering new features or products, strong knowledge of web services and protocols and an in-depth knowledge of systems architectures. Experience with asynchronous workflow, big-data, machine learning and AWS technologies is a plus.

At AWS Marketplace Seller Services our charter is to provide sellers (including Independent Software Vendors and Resellers) a world-class experience to list, market, and sell their products and services globally. By offering a curated catalog of offerings that buyers trust, along with seller data analytics, we enable sellers to manage and grow their business such that AWS MP becomes their primary channel of business.

Key job responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced and seasoned Senior Software Development Engineer to help the team take Marketplace to the next level. As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the team you will own significant portions of the product and will have significant influence on our strategy by helping define the next wave of product features and system architecture. The systems are complex and there are huge opportunities to work at all levels from the front end user experience to a set of robust backend APIs and services and everything in between. You're someone who thrives on solving complex distributed computing challenges, is customer obsessed, can mentor and serve as a role model for other engineers on the team and is passionate about building quality software that raises the operational excellence of the organization. You possess strong communication skills since at AWS Marketplace you'll have several opportunities to meet and interact with customers (both buyers and sellers) directly

Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
