About the role

CapU's School of Motion Picture Arts is dedicated to inspiring and training a new generation of Canadian talent in the film, TV, animation, gaming and motion picture industries.

Production Design and Set Decoration courses at Capilano University include classroom and studio instruction, lectures and hands-on demonstrations. Group, individual and production mentoring, as well as "on-set" supervision and support are central to the applied nature of our program. The successful candidate will lead in lectures and/or workshops addressing Production design Technique and aesthetics.

Special skills and industry experience in Production Design and Set Decoration are necessary. Additional Project Mentoring and Production Design workshops may also be scheduled for all 4 years of MOPA students.

The successful candidate should demonstrate proven strategies for working with and assessing a wide range of students with diverse backgrounds and will be required to engage in program development and departmental initiatives. We encourage applicants whose lived and professional experiences will help students navigate and see themselves in our changing industry.

Experience, competencies & qualifications

• Master's degree, MFA, or equivalent, or a combination of professional, educational and instructional equivalencies is required.
• Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in Production Design and/or Set Decoration.
• In-depth Knowledge of pre-production and production workflow.
• Current practice and in-depth knowledge of Production Design and Set Decoration.
• Experience delivering, developing curriculum and teaching material at post-secondary level.
• Previous experience working and collaborating within a large and diverse team is required.
