A probation period will apply for the first 3 months of employment.

We have year around work in the Calgary area.

Operation of a hydrovac excavation truck and trailer combo. Drive and operate a 5500 truck and pull hydrovac trailer. Must be able to effectively maneuver and back up a truck and trailer unit. A valid Class 3 or 5 drivers license with a clean driver's abstract is a requirement. Mechanical aptitude and a safe working habit are required.

Were looking for an experienced hydrovac operator to join our growing team to support horizontal directional drilling projects in the Calgary area. We operate Vermeer vac trailer units; a valid Class 3 or 5 drivers license with a clean driver's abstract is the requirement for this position. This position could be a good fit for a seasoned pro hydrovac operator, or an experienced hydrovac swamper that does not have a higher class driver's license to operate a larger hydrovac truck unit.

All work is in the Calgary area. Opportunities to advance within the team to learn more about horizontal directional drilling and locating within our industry.

Duties and Functions, Skills, Abilities and Knowledge:

This is a team-oriented position. The expectation is to also support other activities on work sites when hydrovac is complete or not required. These duties could include placing service boxes, backfilling, pulling cable, and assisting the drill crew as needed for other scope of civil construction and fibre optic installation.

Must have the ability to manage time effectively. Must be self-motivated and be a positive influence on your co-workers. The candidate must be able to solve problems and exercise good judgement and work in a safe and effective manner. Have a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn.

• Ability to read Prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
• Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of trucks and equipment in a safe manner.
• Have safe working habits.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
• Puts success of team above own interests.
• Must be physically fit and willing to work outdoors in all types of weather and work overtime as required.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience operating hydrovac

• Operate hydrovac equipment to perform excavation and trenching tasks

• Safely dig around utilities and other structures

• Build and maintain safe efficient work sites

• Ground disturbance Level 2 is required and other Safety Tickets are an asset

• Can follow directions and procedures clearly

• Perform routine maintenance on Hydrovac units to ensure cleanliness and efficient operation

• Required to have and wear all appropriate PPE on all job sites

• Identify and assess hazards at the work site

• Must be eligible to work in Canada

• Competitive Wages are based on performance/experience/ knowledge

Pay: $28.00-$34.00 per hour to start based on experience

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

Schedule: 7.30 am to 3.30 pm week days and weekends as required

Must have/maintain a class 3 or 5 license class 3 is an asset must have clean drivers abstract and reliable transportation to get to work.

Schedule:

Day shift

Monday to Friday

• Overtime as required
• Weekends as required mostly just Saturdays
