The Compactor is a revolutionary waste management service that uses specialized trucks to compact the contents of roll-off dumpsters. We have been operating in Ottawa/Gatineau since March 2025. Clients cut down on trips to the dump, which helps them cut costs and provides a greener alternative.

We are launching The Dumpster Co because many of our existing clients have asked to rent dumpsters from us. We are the only company in the region offering both services. This offers the client a complete, very efficient waste management solution. We currently have 1 truck and 35 bins. Expansion beyond this is definitely possible.

Details:

  • Part-time employment (with the goal of being full-time soon);
  • Start date is anytime, ideally before first week of January;
  • Base salary TBD based on skills and experience. We're happy to pay well if you are hard-working and eager;
  • Early morning start times (7am) and late end times (6pm) are a possibility, depending on clients' needs.

We are looking for a driver that:

  • Is eager, resourceful, self-motivated and organized;
  • Has a pleasant demeanour and gives clients the top-notch service we are known for;
  • Is comfortable using scheduling apps.

Basics of this position:

  • Relationships - You are someone that is good with clients and puts emphasis on customer service. We are here to serve.
  • Driver - You are comfortable driving a 33000lbs GVWR commercial truck that has air-brakes. This means you have to drive safely, but also you have to be efficient. Safety is our friend, inefficiency is not.
  • Mechanics - You know enough about truck mechanics to notice issues as they arise. You should be able to resolve minor issues on your own, and let us know of the major ones.

Your day-to-day:

  • Doing a daily inspection of the Truck and Hook Lift, filling out the inspection report, and communicating with us any defects (the trucks are new but that doesn't mean there won't be issues);
  • Running scheduled routes, including pick-ups, drop-offs, swaps, yard runs, etc.
  • Communicating with us throughout the day, whether it's about completed bookings, general updates, issues with clients or equipment, fun chatter(), and so on. It's a very dynamic business and market, we have to communicate a lot at all times of the day.

Minimum requirements:

  • D-License with valid Z-Endorsement;
  • Clean driving record;
  • Ability to hold conversations in English.

Other skills that are beneficial:

  • 3yrs+ driving commercial trucks;
  • Speaking French, even if it's basic.
