Maintenance Associate

THE POSITION

The Maintenance Associate performs a variety of skilled activities ranging from trouble shooting, PM program, maintenance, repair on all buildings and production equipment owned by Sunrise Markets Inc.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for working Safely and following all applicable WorkSafe BC, GPM and SAF related regulations & complying with company policies.
• Carries out preventive maintenance / repairs on buildings and production equipment under the supervision of the MaintenanceSupervisor, or Senior Maintenance Technician.
• Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of production equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify any potential issues.
• Assist Maintenance technician in emergency calls and carries out break down repairs as required.
• Works jointly with the ProductionLead-hands and other company staff on operating and troubleshooting problems with the production equipment.
• Performs all duties according to Food Safety Standards (GMP, SQF, etc.)
• Inputs into the computer CMMS the work performed, materials and equipment used.
• Reports observations of any deviation to the process/procedure or a defect or non-conformance to the product which may result in a situation requiring food safety assessment and placing product on hold or scrapping the product to the management immediately.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, equipment.
• Ensure that all power tools are properly maintained and stored in a good / safe working condition.
• Communicate with maintenance team members and production personnel to coordinate work and minimize downtime.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.
• Reports major incidents (that causes a serious machine downtime or extra help is required) to Maintenance Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor/ Maintenance manager

WORK CONDITIONS

• Permanent Full-time position (40 hours per week)
• Work is performed in office environment and production facility
• Regular shift work / regular office hours but need to be flexible including nights, weekends, and holidays as required to meet business needs
• Exposure to noise and a wet temperature varied environment when in the production area
• Wearing of company provided Uniform and other Personal Protective Equipment is required as applicable.
• Frequent ladder climbing and kneeling down to repair machinery.
• Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical lifting of machinery and parts is essential.
• Able to work indoor and outdoors in all weather conditions.

REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 or College Diploma or Post-Secondary Vocational / Technical School trainings.
• Good verbal and written English language skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Self-starter
• Computer skills: Basic computer skills and Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (if applicable)
• Ability to lift up to (20) kilograms (if applicable)
