The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has a broad mandate and is committed to maintaining and improving New Brunswick's public infrastructure.  The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure's mission is to contribute to New Brunswick's economy and quality of life by providing and supporting sustainable infrastructure that allows for the safe and efficient movement of people, goods and government services to the public.  Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.

What you will do

Reporting to the Sign Shop Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • cutting materials for signs including plywood, aluminum, sentra, corex, gravoply using various power tools;
  • cutting out letters using computer software and cutter plotter;
  • applying letters and graphics to signs by hand;
  • covering sign substrate with protective coating/sheeting;
  • applying graphics and lettering to vehicles;
  • preparing screens for silk screening and silk screening signs;
  • assisting with unloading/loading of trucks, cutting sign posts and other work as required at the Supply Depot.

Work environment:

  • Office location:  122 Currie Avenue, Fredericton.
  • Open office layout.
  • Standard hours of work:  Monday – Friday.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade ten (10).
  • Three (3) years experience manufacturing and screen printing signs or related experience.
  • Knowledge of all machinery, tools, substrates and software used to produce permanent and temporary road signs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following asset:

  • experience using CAS, Flexi-Cut and Adobe Software for sign fabrication;
  • experience using a HP 365 Printer;
  • experience using Zund flatbed potter/cutter.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

SALARY:

Operations Worker II:  $27.72 per hour, based on a 40 hour week.
