Hey Future Comms Pro
Ready to skip the typical intern coffee runs and jump straight into work that actually matters? At Burson, we don't just "do PR" – we shape conversations, influence behaviours, and build campaigns that spark real change across social, digital, and traditional channels – in Canada and globally. We're all about smart strategy, real impact, and an international network of thinkers, doers, and game-changers.
We're looking for a
Health Communications Intern to join our Health & Wellness team –
someone curious, creative, proactive, and genuinely excited about the intersection of science, strategy and meaningful storytelling.
In this
paid internship role
, you'll be working alongside world-class pharmaceutical organizations, patient advocacy groups, and healthcare associations to help advance awareness, improve access, and support better health outcomes across Canada. This isn't just an internship – it's a launchpad into a career where communications and purpose collide.
What you'll be doing (and probably have a blast doing):
- Supporting the development of client-ready deliverables (reports, media materials, and program recommendations – and yes, your work will actually matter)
- Drafting media lists, pitches, stakeholder maps, meeting agendas and summaries, insight notes, measurement reports, social listening summaries, and more
- Assisting with earned media and stakeholder outreach, while monitoring media coverage and the broader information environment around clients and key health issues
- Developing research skills for existing and new business opportunities
- Bringing your big ideas at brainstorms and strategy meetings
- Becoming our trend-spotter – tracking emerging news, issues, health policy updates, and online conversation and sharing news and insights with the team and clients
One day you might be supporting an awareness campaign for a chronic disease. The next? You're tracking a breaking health announcement and helping our team respond in real time. No two days are the same – promise.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- You're recently graduated or completed a program in communications, public relations, health promotion, journalism, or a related field
- You thrive in fast-moving environments and juggle deadlines with ease
- You have strong attention to detail (typos tremble in your presence)
- You're proactive, curious, and ready to take initiative
- You love what's happening in the world – media, social media, current affairs, health trends, digital culture
- You enjoy meeting new people, learning from others, and building your network
Why Burson Is That Internship
- Work with some of the biggest names in health
- Get mentorship from people who are excited to see you flourish, grow and learn
- Build a portfolio that makes future-you proud
- Join a team that's ambitious, collaborative, and genuinely fun
- Learn the ropes of earned, digital, social, strategy, and integrated comms
If you're looking for an opportunity to do great work with great people – and make your mark in the health communications space – we'd love to hear from you.
