JOB OVERVIEW:
We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Radiographic Technologist (X-Ray Technologist) to join our Casual Float Pool in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. This position's focus is performing diagnostic imaging procedures using radiographic equipment to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The Technologist ensures high-quality imaging while maintaining safety protocols, patient comfort and confidentiality. Clinical and interpersonal skills will be utilized daily. This role requires expertise in operating x-ray equipment, accurately communicating results, and providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for imaging, explain procedures, take pertinent medical history and ensure their comfort throughout the process.
- Perform general radiographic examinations, including skeletal, thoracic, and abdominal imaging, in accordance with physician requests.
- Operate and adjust X-ray equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Ensure proper positioning of patients to obtain optimal imaging results while minimizing radiation exposure.
- Follow radiation safety protocols, including proper use of protective equipment and exposure minimization techniques.
- Adhere to infection control and workplace safety protocols.
- Adherence to all IPAC regulations.
- Provide a comfortable patient interaction where they feel welcome and are provided the opportunity to ask questions.
- Obtain and record quality diagnostic images.
- Operate and bring forward maintenance needs for imaging equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Assess and record imaging results, identifying any abnormalities and reporting findings to radiologists.
- Adhere to professional standards, policies, and procedures, including infection control and patient confidentiality protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnostic assessments and continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and clinic guidelines.
- Document patient interactions accurately and completely.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices, advancements in technology and techniques, and compliance guidelines.
- Adhere to privacy and confidentiality standards and requirements in accordance with relevant legislation (ie. PHIPA), clinic policies, etc.
- Assist in training and mentoring students or new staff.
- Duties will vary from time to time to support the needs of the organization.
- Operate in a safe way following all policies and procedures as outlined by the Oshawa Clinic Group.
Qualifications:
- Current license in good standing with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) and current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time-management skills.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating radiography systems.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and RIS (Radiology Information System).
- Proficiency with Microsoft office.
- Ability to work independently and enthusiasm for being part of a functional team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Additional Information:
- Shifts will be scheduled at all sites with Diagnostic Imaging services within the Oshawa Clinic Group and all are considered your regular place of work. There will be no additional compensation in consideration of what site you are scheduled for shifts.
- All employees are required to work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations.
- All employees are required to work in compliance with PHIPA legislation; understanding and having a deep respect for patient privacy and data protection.
- Hours are of work are generally 8 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, and will generally be within the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, based on operational needs.
