Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)Manages a group of skilled Hardware Design resources & Group Leads focused on the Site Infrastructure designs of Hitachi Rail GTS projects and their implementation
Key Accountabilities:
Managers are responsible to create a Performance Driven organization and Culture. They will assess, measure and reward accountability and efficiency. All leaders will continue to develop and improve our key talent. Managers will ensure SMART and quantitative objectives are set and are responsible to engage in and action all elements of the HR Cycle including Talent Review, Succession Planning, Professional Development Discussion and Training initiatives within their teams. Managers are accountable to ensure all actions from these performance driven activities are developed and progressed. As part of their key function, they are responsible to ensure consistency between work demand and capacity within their portfolio through smart task assignments. They will continue to drive the one team spirit within the Urban Rail Signaling domain, will manage team growth and address labor forecast challenges.
Lead the Site Infrastructure Design (SID) team and provide deliverables, estimates and plans on time as
per assigned projects' schedule.
Align and coordinate directly with Director of SID on upcoming opportunities and Go-Gets
Support proposal submission by:
o Defining assigned projects' SID design strategy for Brownfield or/and Greenfield opportunities and align with Capture Leads, Bids, Engineering, Projects, DPMs, and COD teams.
o Reviewing assigned projects' estimates from LCCs and CODs and identifying optimizations to meet the target pricing.
Consolidate assigned projects' overall estimates, risks, non-labor cost from LCCs and SID team to Bid team as formal submission for any given Bids.
Define assigned projects' schedule for SID design activities and align with Engineering, DPMs, PMs, and COD teams.
Leads assigned projects' Design for Deployment discussions to minimize cost and optimized schedule duration.
Participate in complex customer meetings to discuss SID design strategy for assigned projects.
Engage with Deployment teams to reflect lessons learned on assigned projects to reduce rework and overruns.
Provide regular updates of assigned projects to the Director of SID on the progress of design and deliverables on active projects.
Review department LFR quarterly with Director of SID and implement the action plan as required for the assigned projects.
Participate in monthly Deployment Dashboard reviews and provide feedback on SID topics for assigned projects.
Actively monitor department demand and ensure personnel with the right skillset are assigned to deliver the project commitments on time for assigned projects.
Ensure department performance initiatives are accomplished for assigned projects.
Locating and researching source documentation for SID design activities.
Making timely decisions, both independently and in concert with others
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
10+ years in Urban Rail or related electrical infrastructure projects.
5+ years in electrical hardware application design and configuration (power systems, signaling hardware, control systems).
2+ years in management position having managed and coordinated international teams.
University degree in engineering or equivalent.
Familiarity with electrical CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) and simulation software (MATLAB/Simulink).
Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (IEEE, IEC).
7Change management skills and experience.
Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent customer service experience.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
P.Eng license (Electrical/Electronics discipline preferred).
Experience with rail signaling systems and electrical integration.
Salary Range: $130,459 - $165,683
