The Systems Engineering Team Lead (STL) has the primary responsibility of mentoring and guiding a team of systems engineers and overseeing the execution of various Systems Engineering functions. The STL supports the Systems Engineering department in cultivating and maintaining an optimal systems engineering program & process and is a key contributor in fostering Systems thinking at OSI. The incumbent has experience in working within the discipline of Systems Engineering in various organizations and platforms with a keen understanding off other engineering disciplines such as Software, Hardware, Manufacturing, and Integrated Logistic and Support, Engineering.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Systems Engineering Director in guiding a team that embodies the core capabilities required to achieve excellence in the marine navigation market.
Mentor and develop employees within the Systems Engineering team to foster an inclusive and professional team environment.
Cultivate and maintain a highly motivated, team oriented environment within the Systems Engineering team.
Support development and performance improvement of team members, including documentation of achievements and progress.
TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to the responsibilities identified for a Systems Engineer of your grade, the STL is responsible for the following technical aspects:
Support the Project Management team by identifying and resolving program deficiencies/inefficiencies as they pertain to the Systems Engineering Development Lifecycle (SEDL). This includes support to tailor the SEDL to meet project and business needs.
Support the Systems Engineering Director in creating and maintaining the Systems Engineering Development Lifecycle and all associated process. Understanding that SE provides generalist engineering support to all departments where needed to ensure the efficient flow of projects through the company End to End Process.
Collaborate with internal audit and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance of OSI navigation products to ISO 900, including making sure procedures and policies are adhered to at all times and all exceptions are immediately reported.
KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Engineering or a related analytical field or equivalent experience
Experience in Systems Engineering including applying SE principles, standards and best practices.
Experience in teaching, mentoring or otherwise leading a team of professionals.
Experience in marine electronics and integrated bridge systems is a significant asset.
Experience in defense or government domain, preferably in naval ship sector is a significant asset.
Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
Consistent personal improvement practices (working on your craft).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Other: Eligible to obtain and maintain a location relevant security clearance; willingness and ability to travel
