About the Company:
A well-established manufacturing company located in Maple Ridge, BC is seeking a detail-oriented Full cycle Accountant to join their team on a part time besis. The company is known for delivering high-quality, precision-engineered products to a wide range of industries across North America. This part-time role (up to 02 hours per week), with the potential to transition to full-time within a year, is an on-site position ideal for someone with a solid accounting background who is eager to contribute directly to the financial and operational success of a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
About the Role:
The Accountant will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of accounting, including maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, processing journal entries, and using accounting software to manage company finances. Day-to-day tasks include cash management, regular reporting on financial performance to company leadership, month-end and year-end processing, and oversight of receivables, payables, and other financial functions at the company. The Accountant will also be responsible for certain administrative & human resources functions, including oversight of bi-weekly payroll and administering employees' benefits coverage.
This is an onsite role requiring 3-4 days per week in the office for the first 6-12 months. After 6-12 months, the candidate will have the option to work on a hybrid basis (1 day remote per week). During the initial 6-12 month period, candidates are required to be in the office on every day of each week.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Accounting Transaction: Maintain and process day-to-day accounting transactions.
- Payroll: Review & prepare bi-weekly payroll, prepare and file GST/PST, payroll remittances, T4 slips, and other statutory filings.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process and manage all AP/AR transactions.
- Customer Shipment: Coordinate and process shipments to customers, including preparation of packing slips, bills of lading, and courier documentation.
- Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and other ledgers regularly.
- Month-End Closing: Perform month-end closing tasks such as journal entries, accruals, and preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Inventory Accounting: Record and track inventory transactions, update inventory valuations, and reconcile stock levels. Calculate and post COGS and inventory adjustments.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the general ledger and accounting records. Prepare and review financial reports, budgets, and variance analyses.
- Administration: Provide general administrative support to management.
Ideal Candidates:
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong accounting background. Industry experience is a plus. Ideal qualifications include:
- Mature professional with 5+ years experience & experience with full cycle accounting.
- Accounting background with an accounting degree/diploma or designation required.
- Organized, rigorous, able to implement and follow procedures, maintaining clear files & records.
- Self-starter and proactive, capable of working independently.
- Flexible and entrepreneurial, willing to pitch in, wear different hats and get the job done.
- Strong interpersonal skills – gets along well with others and is a team player.
- Experience with accounting software required (Sage 50 Ideal).
- Experience processing customer shipments, including customs and courier documentation required.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Comfortable in Microsoft Word & PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of or manufacturing industry experience an asset.
- Experience with job costing and margin tracking an asset but not a requirement.
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $29-$41/hr, based on experience & fit for role.
- Bonus opportunity: 2% of base salary.
- Benefits not available for part-time employees.
