Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the incumbent oversees all aspects of the Membership Administration Section. The Membership Administration section is a key group within PSAC of up to 12 individuals that is responsible for critical member information, membership cards and dues calculations. The Manager and team maintain the system from which all member reporting is sourced, and assist employers, union locals and other branches with their information needs. The manager is responsible for ensuring monthly dues are properly recorded and coordinating the team's daily activities which includes a group that recalculates individual member dues.
What you will bring to the table:Education/Experience
- Experience in leading a team (hiring, coaching and performance management) and driving change.
- Business or public administration techniques, including: practical knowledge of accounting; planning/time/tasks management techniques.
- Advanced computer skills in Word and Excel, also keen aptitude for understanding complex database system such as Unionware and managing wide variety of communication tools.
- Knowledge of the membership information database (UnionWare), procedures and guidelines relating to the administration of membership dues and knowledge of the section's functions in order to answer questions related to all section staff duties, troubleshoot, assign work and assess workflow.
- Knowledge of collective agreements and how to interpret the information (i.e., general principles, fee structures, etc.).
- Knowledge and commitment to union and employment equity principles.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French.
- Ability to motivate, lead and encourage each team member to develop and reach their full potential.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, energy and enthusiasm to build a positive work environment.
- Second language level indicated above is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Preferred candidates may have their second language skills assessed as part of the hiring process. However, valid federal government SLE results can be used toward this.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
