Center Ice Rinks is seeking an experienced
Independent HVAC Technician
to support our facilities with specialized service in
air‑cooled chiller systems
and
single‑phase residential chillers
. This role is ideal for a highly skilled technician who can work independently, respond quickly to urgent needs, and understands the unique demands of recreational ice environments.

About the Role

We install and operate multiple ice surfaces and rely on dependable HVAC professionals to commission and keep our refrigeration systems running safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will provide
on‑call and scheduled service
for both commercial air‑cooled chillers and smaller single‑phase residential chiller units used in auxiliary applications.

Responsibilities

  • Commission and start up new and existing air cooled chiller systems
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain
    air‑cooled chiller systems
  • Service and troubleshoot
    single‑phase and/or 3 phase chiller units
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Respond to urgent service requests on short notice
  • Provide clear documentation and communicate system status to management
  • Work independently with minimal supervision

Qualifications

  • Minimum
    5 years of HVAC experience
    , including:
  • Strong expertise in
    air‑cooled chiller systems
  • Hands‑on experience with
    single‑phase and/or 3 phase chillers
  • Valid HVAC/Refrigeration certification(s)
  • Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulatory compliance
  • Reliable, self‑directed, and comfortable working independently
  • Availability for
    short‑notice service calls
    , including evenings or weekends
  • Own tools, equipment, and transportation

Contract Type

  • Independent Contractor
  • Ongoing work available

    peak season from October to February
