Job Overview

Join our camp dynamic team as a Swim Instructor and inspire confidence, safety, and a love for water in learners of all ages In this energetic role, you will deliver engaging swimming lessons that promote skill development and water safety. Working with children and teens, your enthusiasm and expertise will help participants achieve their goals while fostering a positive and motivating environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact through teaching and promoting healthy aquatic habits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging swimming lessons tailored to various skill levels, from beginners to advanced swimmers
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing water safety rules and monitoring activities closely
  • Develop customized lesson plans that incorporate fundamental swimming techniques and water safety skills
  • Support class transitions, deck procedures, attendance tracking, and equipment organization.
  • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to motivate learners and track their progress effectively
  • Maintain a clean, organized pool area and ensure all equipment is safe and functional
  • Adhere to expectations and program standards set by the Swim Coordinator
  • Uphold behavior management strategies to create a respectful, inclusive, and fun learning environment

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current and valid Lifesaving Society's National Lifeguard Certification AND Instructor certification; certifications must be kept valid throughout employment.
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C/AED Certification.
  • Strong understanding and adherence to all legislated requirements, policies and procedures, including emergency procedures and health and safety standards
  • Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Screening through Regional Police.
  • Experience with various age groups and children with special needs is considered a strong asset.

Job Type: Seasonal

Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $17.60-$22.00 per hour

Experience:

  • working with various age groups and children : 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C/AED Certification (required)
