THIS OPPORTUNITY:
We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanent Manager, Major Gifts to join our Philanthropy team Reporting to the Senior Manager, Campaign, the Manager, Major Gifts will focus on raising funds from individuals through Major Gifts and Planned Giving. In this role you will cultivate, solicit and steward major gifts and planned gifts from individuals and donors throughout Canada. In collaboration with the Sr. Manager, Campaign and other senior managers, you will develop and oversee the strategy to make the "ask", solidify financial support and manage the donor recognition for major gifts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and recognize major gifts.
- Identify donor prospects or unsolicited donors through the various implemented marketing tools.
- Manage an ongoing portfolio of major gift prospects and create customized campaign strategies for major gift prospects.
- Develop and implement creative cultivation and solicitation strategies that inspire donors and prospects to make multi-year commitments.
- Build a pipeline through prospect identification, tracking performance, and reporting progress monthly.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and staff to support the development of the team and volunteers.
- Collaborate and work closely with the Manager, Stewardship, to establish an effective stewardship program for various levels of major gifts, which includes appropriate reporting and engagement activities.
- Lead the recognition for major gift donors and contribute in areas identified, such as a virtual wall of donors, newsletters, etc.
- Support the development of volunteer fundraising committees, committee chairpersons, and champions/advocates within the community.
- Initiate research on best practices of similar organizations to establish and improve internal processes and best practices in major gifts.
- Analyze and assess information from local, national, and international resources; financial and philanthropy reports.
- Monitor revenue streams and report on progress to management as required.
- Contribute to the overall accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of financial reporting pertaining to major gifts.
- Stay current with best practices, industry trends, and all issues that could affect the program, including legislation, professional expertise, financial practices, and information required by prospective donors and their advisors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary level education either from a university or college.
- Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation (or registration in a program leading to the achievement of this designation).
- Minimum of five years' experience in fundraising (or related fields, such as sales or marketing) with progressively senior responsibilities, including managerial experience in fundraising and in executing major gifts programs.
- Familiarity with and commitment to the needs of people with disabilities.
- Strategic thinker, with a broad and creative approach to maximize resources and position the agency to formulate and support "asks" for major gifts.
- Analytical skills to review prospect profiles and to develop a strategy to maximize the potential for donations by that individual.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and/or supervise negotiation processes for obtaining commitments from major gift and planned gift donors.
- Familiarity with research tools and practices aimed at identifying and "qualifying" major corporate and personal donors.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work with sensitive, confidential information.
- Self-motivated to achieve results and an effective team player.
- Supervisory ability to direct and motivate staff to achieve goals with a long-term horizon, as well as to work with senior volunteers.
- Proven ability to achieve expected goals within restricted time frames.

- Hybrid work arrangement of minimum 3 days in office (our office is located at 99 Duncan Mill Road, Toronto Ontario)
