Activity Aide-causal Unscheduled part time

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Aide to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a nursing home or assisted living environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors, particularly those with disabilities or dementia, and will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through various recreational and therapeutic activities.
Duties
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational activities for residents, ensuring they are tailored to individual interests and abilities.
- Facilitate group activities such as games, arts and crafts, music sessions, and exercise programs to promote social interaction and physical well-being.
- Provide one-on-one support to residents who may require additional assistance or encouragement to participate in activities.
- Communicate effectively with residents to understand their preferences and needs, fostering a supportive environment.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities to help improve future programming.
- Assist with daily living tasks as needed, promoting independence while ensuring comfort and safety.
Qualifications
- 1) Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university or current enrollment in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program in such a field or equivalent.
2) Completion of Food Handling Certificate.
3) Knowledge of recreation and leisure best practices and procedures.
4) Ability to read, write, comprehend and follow instructions in English.
5) Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when assisting residents, family members and visitors.
6) Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong relationship building abilities are required.
7) Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Point Click Care,Welbi and other computerized documentation systems, as required.
8) Satisfactory vulnerable sector check and TB test.
9) Has a passion to promote person-centered care and work with the senior population
