Division: Utilities and EnvironmentDepartment: Facilities ManagementTerm: 1 Permanent Full Time position available.Closing Date: 02/02/2026Labour Group: CUPE 59Posting: 4920Job SummaryUnder supervision of the Facilities Superintendent, this position performs and supervises the work of employees engaged in the cleaning of buildings, and the general maintenance and operation of building systems.Duties & ResponsibilitiesOversees and maintains the operation of building systems.Supports and promotes a safe and positive workplace culture through a variety of initiatives and activities.Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations in addition to the City of Saskatoon's administrative Occupational Health & Safety policies and departmental procedures.Schedules, supervises and inspects the work of subordinates; coordinates the work of trades, as required.Prepares and maintains maintenance programs, schedules and records.Performs minor maintenance and repairs to the premises and fixtures, as required.Ensures the cleaning of the interior and exterior of buildings and associated grounds and walkways.Assists with the relocation and installation of fixtures and equipment.Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation, Training & Experience Requirements:Grade 12 education.Possession of a valid Fourth Class Engineer's Certificate OR Possession of a valid Fifth Class Engineer's Certificate plus successful completion of a recognized Systems Maintenance Administrator program.Possession of a valid Refrigeration Engineer's Certificate.Successful completion of the Saskatchewan Swimming Pool Operators course.Journeyman certification in a construction trade would be an asset.Three years' related mechanical and building systems maintenance experience plus two years' supervisory experience.Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.Current driver's abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in building systems maintenance and operation.Knowledge of the materials, practices and equipment used in janitorial work.Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of subordinates.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.Ability to deal effectively with the public and other civic employees.Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.Demonstrated skill in the operation and maintenance of building control systems.Requires Security CheckAcceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) upon offer of employment.Additional RequirementsEvening and weekend work may be required.Weekly Hours: 40Salary Range: $38.75 to $42.76 CAD per hour (2026 rates)Diversity, Equity and InclusionThe City of Saskatoon offers an inclusive workplace that embraces diverse backgrounds.
