About the Role:

Dear Grain is looking for a passionate and reliable Artisan Bread Baker to join our fast-paced, sourdough focused bakery. You will be involved in all aspects of bread production from mixing, shaping, and proofing dough to baking, slicing, packing, and maintaining a clean workspace. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, physically strong, able to work independently or in a team, and committed to the craft of artisanal sourdough baking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cutting, shaping, and proofing sourdough dough
  • Mixing large batches of dough (up to 160 kg) with consistency and precision
  • Baking breads in the deck oven
  • Slicing and packaging breads and buns for sale
  • Assisting with prep work and ingredient organization
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of work area
  • Restocking inventory and assisting with supply management
  • Reports to Kitchen Leader

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a commercial kitchen
  • 1–2 years of bread baking or dough handling experience preferred
  • Culinary or baking education is an asset
  • Physically strong, able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Able and willing to work with intensity in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to arrive on time independently

Pay and Schedule:

  • Part-time: approx 24 hours (3 days per week) with the possibility to transition to full-time in the next year
  • 8 hours shift (6:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
  • Schedule: Saturday, Sunday, Monday
  • Pay: $18.50 – $21.00 per hour plus tips (approx $2)
