The Imapct You'll Make
As Data Scientist, Pricing you will be responsible for turning large data sets into actionable analytics and optimizing our pricing guidance platform, to drive annual margin improvements. The Data Scientist, Pricing will work with Business Development Category leaders; Sales and Services leaders to develop and implement the governance, policies and processes for solution pricing that maximize business value and drive sales and profitability.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the development of robust commercial pricing models; clearly presenting inputs and outputs from the models to senior leaders and other stakeholders to drive decision making.
  • Maintain the Pricing Segmentation model accuracy to drive Seller confidence in pricing recommendations and thereby creating a lever for Softchoice to increase margins and profits.
  • Develop quantitative, actionable insights that drive decision-making through the application of statistical, and/or advanced data analytics techniques.
  • Gather and maintain competitive intelligence from a variety of sources in a standardized manner, to ensure broad knowledge of competitive actions, and assist in the development of market benchmarking activities.
  • Validate and enhance current pricing governance, policies, rules and processes (e.g. pricing floors/ceilings, approvals, etc.) and continually improve them within our systems
  • Forecast the impact of pricing decisions related to the overall business and communicate expectations, profitability, and key pricing metrics
  • Solve complex problems using advanced mathematical modeling and optimization techniques, including but not limited to, big data pre-processing, problem formulation, features engineering, algorithmic selection and evaluation, hyperparameter tuning for machine learning, and deployment.
  • Design and implement scalable machine learning systems and infrastructure.
  • Optimize data pipelines for preprocessing, feature engineering, and model training.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration of Machine Learning models into production.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in machine learning, DevOps, and cloud technologies.
  • Contribute on all the stages of data science projects: from performing raw data mining to translating complex technical topics into business solutions.
  • Maintains and enhance a set of critical data models supporting our business use cases.
  • Stay current with market conditions to develop and refine pricing strategies and models to stay competitive within our industry

What You'll Bring To The Table

  • 5+ years of experience of pricing strategy and implementation
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics and data sciences
  • Post-secondary Degree or Diploma. MBA considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Python, R, SQL and experience with ML libraries and frameworks like Scikit-learn, NumPy, etc.
  • Experience engineering information out of massive, complex and, in some cases, unstructured datasets.
  • Proficiency in one or more visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI etc.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and analytical thinking
  • Ability to influence, collaborate and interact effectively with multiple key stakeholders across several functional areas to align on decisions
  • Ability to apply a strong business sense with technical skills to effectively balance decisions around the complexity and speed of the project delivery.
  • Ability to work successfully in a project team environment
  • Detailed oriented
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy
