As an Escape City Puzzle Technician, you'll support both new development and ongoing maintenance of our escape room technology. This role offers experience designing and deploying real-world electronics and interactive systems that thousands of guests experience firsthand. ● Research, design, and build custom puzzle hardware.

● Solder circuit boards, crimp field wiring, and assemble controllers.

● Construct and assemble puzzle components and props.

● Install puzzle controllers, inputs, and outputs in the field.

● Program, test, and debug puzzle logic.

● Maintain and repair existing puzzles.

● Model and print 3D components.

● Support operations staff with troubleshooting (including remote debugging).

● Update and maintain internal technical documentation.

Required Technical Skills We don't expect candidates to have all the listed skills below. The most important quality the successful candidate will possess is the desire and capacity to learn more about electronics and embedded systems:

● Basic understanding of electricity and electronics

● Experience with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or similar embedded systems

● Printed circuit board design (KiCad or similar)

● Linux system administration and command line use (Debian / Ubuntu, BASH, SSH, SSHFS, SFTP)

● Programming experience (Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Flask, MQTT, Git)

● Strong mechanical aptitude

● Comfortable using hand and power tools (drills, saws, etc.)

● Experience with prop-building or fabrication is an asset

This full-time position is based in Edmonton, AB, offers $20-$25 per hour based on experience and skill set, and will require occasional travel to our locations in Calgary, AB, and Saskatoon, SK.
