Fortinet is offering an exciting opportunity to hire a talented Software Development QA Specialist to join our FortiClient DevQA team in Burnaby, Canada.

As a Software Development QA Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the functionality of our products and the implementation of testing tools. You will be engaged in both front-end and back-end verification across cloud and on-premises platforms. Job Responsibilities:

  • Execute test cases using both manual and automated testing techniques to ensure product quality.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software systems to enhance the functionality and reliability of our products.
  • Develop and maintain the test automation infrastructure and manage the QA lab environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within our mission-critical cloud services, implementing proactive solutions to prevent future problems.
  • Create, maintain, and monitor internal service performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with software development, release QA, and system operations teams to improve and enhance products and services.
  • Work closely with R&D and technical support teams to track, troubleshoot, and resolve issues through the internal issue tracking system.
  • Participate in customer calls for real-time troubleshooting as needed.

Required Qualifications & Job Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years of professional experience in a technical role.
  • Strong understanding of client-server architecture and internet protocols.
  • In-depth knowledge of the internet protocol suite, including ARP, MAC, IPv4, IPsec, TCP, UDP, HTTP, SSH, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.
  • Over three years of hands-on experience with configuring and managing Windows and Linux servers, as well as virtualization technologies such as Windows Hypervisor and VMware.
  • Expertise in VPN technologies, Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Web Proxy, Zero Trust Network Access, and authentication methods (e.g., MFA, certificate-based authentication).
  • Strong familiarity with QA processes and methodologies, along with software development fundamentals.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot network and server issues using tools like packet sniffers, traceroute, process monitors, and Windows Event Viewer.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell or Python is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), data encryption, penetration testing, and vulnerability research is highly desirable.

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $85,000 - $115,000 annually.  Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level.  Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
