What You'll Be Doing

As an Oracle Database Administrator on the Application Operations team, you will play a critical role in supporting and maintaining Oracle database environments at CIBC. You will provide technical expertise for medium to large projects and initiatives, ensuring the smooth implementation and ongoing support of database technologies. In this role, you will administer and maintain Oracle databases, including regular health checks and proactive monitoring to mitigate incidents. Collaborate with CIBC Technology teams and vendors to address operational needs. Deliver exceptional customer support and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Ensure database security by utilizing Oracle Advanced Security features such as TDE, OKV, and DB. You will also be responsible for day-to-day operational activities for Oracle DBs, managing escalations, modify established procedures / approaches to suit specific situations including 24x7 on-call and production support .

How You'll Succeed

  • Production Support - Investigate and define operational issues and prioritize based on severity, risk and/or strategic business needs. Implement solutions to prevent recurrence with the end goal of ensuring clients satisfaction.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Resolve technical issues of medium complexity in the database technology/application functionality areas. Investigate database functionality/capacity and performance issues and provide solution recommendations for resolution.
  • Partnership - Work as a regular liaison with Application Development partners, Technology partners and Senior Management team..
  • Projects Delivery - Act as subject matter expert for Database implementation and support.  Maintain productive relationships with Application Development and the Project team.  You will ensure that our project commitments are delivered and that project timelines are met.
  • Detail Oriented: Monitor and analyze supported technologies to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend solutions.  

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience of 3-5 years as an Oracle DBA. Experience with implementation and management of Oracle GoldenGate solutions for data replication. Expertise in performance tuning and trouble shooting. Ability to optimize database performance through advanced tuning techniques and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).Manage and renew SSL certificates to maintain secure database connections. Experience with providing hands-on support for Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and Exadata frameworks. Excellent active listening and collaboration skills.  It is an asset if you have experience with other databases such as PostGres or My SQL.
